The timbers are notched for the floor & roof beams to fit into. A circular saw makes the initial cuts & then the wood is chiseled out

Some of the floor & roof beams have been fastened to the upright timbers, and most of the floor joists have been secured at this point. For floor beams I used 3" x 12" pressure treated rough sawn timber. For the roof beams, I used 2" x 12" pressure treated rough sawn timber. The floor joists are mostly 2" x 10" S4S, with some 2" x 8" joists where the span is not great, such as the loft area.

This view depicts the three main levels that John designed

The floor & roof beams fit into the notched timbers. I used large bolts with lock washers & nuts on most of the beams. I used large lag screws on others. I also applied construction grade adhesive to the connections although it probably wasn't necessary.
